In this project we will study, how Finnish women’s magazines discussed women’s social position in the 1960s and 1970s. Research material consists of both commercial women’s magazines and bulletins of women’s political organizations. Aim of the research is to problematize the concept of “women’s magazine” and the wawe metaphor of the history of feminism, to critically review the role of women’s  magazines in the political discussion and to produce new interpretation of the social role of women’s magazines.
